Preliminary damage survey results for the derecho that moved through the area during the overnight hours of May 24, 2024, confirm 16 tornadoes. Results indicate 3 EF-1 and 13 EF-0 tornadoes. The peak estimated wind speed was 110 mph, located approx. 2 miles south of Howells, NE.
