Severe Thunderstorms Expected for Portions of the Northeast; Mountain Snow and Heavy Rain Persist in the West

Severe thunderstorms will continue to develop across the Upper Ohio Valley region into portions of the interior Northeast through this evening. Damaging winds are the main threat however, large hail and a couple of tornadoes are also possible. Warm conditions with highs in the 70s and an isolated afternoon shower or two are expected today over northeast Montana. Then, a cold front on Tuesday will bring a cool down along with strong gusty winds for mid week. Occasional showers continue, changing from rain to snow on Wednesday.
Very dry and windy conditions will lead to elevated fire weather conditions by Tuesday afternoon. Avoid outdoor burning at this time and secure all trailer chains if you’re traveling and towing.
